5 Ways to Eat and Drink the Golden Spice

Drink the Golden Spice

If you were to ask an Indian, the golden spice has never languished at the back of their kitchen spice rack. A staple in curries, Rice, and even drinks, turmeric goes as far as enjoying the title of a “doctor” in Ayurveda.

If you’ve just purchased a jar of turmeric powder, given the many health benefits of the spice– better skin and brain health, anti-inflammatory, better immunity, etc. – to name a few, you’ll be glad to know there is more than one way to consume it.

This guide discusses seven mouth-watering ways of incorporating the health benefits of turmeric into your daily diet.

Top Ways to Include Turmeric in Your Daily Diet

Since 2020, Australia has become the 17th largest importer of turmeric globally. It’s almost like a turmeric revolution, as more and more people include this wonder spice in their daily diets. So, what are some of the most beneficial ways to incorporate turmeric?

Add a Pinch to Your Delectable Frittatas and Scrambles

Are you new to the world of turmeric and its health benefits? Then, it might take some time to adjust to the spice’s overwhelmingly peppery and earthy taste. A great place to start would be your everyday egg or tofu scrambles.

You can even add the spice powder to frittatas, but remember to only add a pinch and not too much.

Toss it with Your Favourite Stir-Fry Veggies

Indians add turmeric powder to mainly every single curry. There’s no such vegetable that does not complement well with the peppery flavour of the golden spice. So, you can add half or one teaspoon of turmeric powder (depending upon the number of veggies) to that scrumptious stir-fry.

If anything, turmeric will only enhance the taste. Add a pinch of black pepper powder for even better results (both from the taste and health perspective).

Combine it with Rice

Once thoroughly steamed, turmeric’s raw flavour dissipates. So, you will never go wrong with adding just a pinch of it with everyday Rice. However, if you want to be a little fancier, you can cook some fragrant yellow rice.

The latter will involve using other spices and veggies tossed in oil before adding the Rice. This dish will be much similar to pilaf.

Blend the Spice Powder in Smoothies

This one might seem a little extreme, given the slightly spicy taste of the spice. However, when combined with ingredients like oatmeal, spinach, bananas, ginger, and even chocolate, the distinct flavour of turmeric is easily masked.

If you’re still not a fan, you can prepare a delicious turmeric soup and veggies like carrots, pumpkin, etc.

Brew Some Hot Herbal Tea

To get the benefits of turmeric in its rawest form, take some water or milk in a pot, bring the same to a boil, and add a pinch of the spice powder. Cover it for five minutes, and your instant turmeric tea is ready!

You can add other ingredients as health and taste enhancers, namely a pinch of black pepper powder and honey.

So you see, there are numerous delicious ways turmeric can become a part of your everyday diet. While the raw spice root is much earthier and has a short shelf life, turmeric powder will easily last for months.

Invest in an organically-sourced, high-quality brand and enjoy turmeric’s many health benefits simply through mild dietary changes!
