An excellent Guide to Delta 8 THC Myths & Facts

Delta 8 THC is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in trace amounts in the cannabis and hemp plant. It has effects similar to those of the well-known delta 9 THC.

In recent years, Delta 8 THC has grown so much in popularity. It also means that there has been a break out of so many myths concerning it on online platforms. After going through so many of these made-up facts, you cannot help but wonder, are delta 8 products safe? These doubts may push you away from trying out delta 8 products, and sadly you might miss out on some of the significant effects on the body.

To help clear some of your doubts, here are some of the myths and facts regarding delta 8.

5 Myths and Facts About Delta 8 THC

Myth: Delta 8 is Illegal

Fact: Delta 8 THC is federally legal

Many people quickly assume that delta 8 is illegal because it is a cannabis product. That is not true!

The 2018 farm bill states that it is legal to farm, produce and use hemp-cannabis products that contain less than 0.3% of THC. As long as the source of the delta 8 THC is hemp, it is also federally legal.

On the other hand, you will also hear some people claim that delta 8 is legal everywhere, and I’m afraid that’s also not right. Delta 8 is federally legal, but there are some states where it is illegal or heavily restricted. So, your freedom of consuming delta 8 will depend on the governing rules of the state you live in.

Myth: Delta 8 THC is Dangerous

Fact: Delta 8 Is Not Dangerous When Consumed Safely

The unknown is the source of fear. But so far, there have been little to no signs that delta 8 THC is dangerous. Its side effects are few, and they are the typical redeyes and dry mouth, basically nothing to fear. Delta 8 has a lower potency than weed, so you will have to consume a lot of it before you feel any intense effects, and it does not cause any feelings of anxiety or paranoia.

Yes, Delta 8 THC is not dangerous, but that does not make it completely safe because anything can quickly become unsafe in the wrong hands. Impure delta 8 is the most difficult. Some manufacturers use additives that make the delta 8 more potent.

For that reason, you should be highly cautious with the brands where you purchase your delta 8 THC product. Preferably buy from known and reputable brands that extensively test all their products. Avoiding delta 8 when pregnant, drunk, or taking prescription medicine is also advisable to prevent drug interactions.

Myth: Delta 8 is Synthetic

Fact: Delta 8 is a Naturally Occurring Cannabinoid

Delta 8 THC cannot be synthetic because it is a naturally occurring cannabinoid. Even though its production is in laboratories, the production process only speeds up its natural process by creating an enhanced environment for the process to occur.

The legality of delta 8 depends on whether or not it is synthetic. Because of the interim rule, the DEA set states that all synthetic THC is illegal. So, if delta 8 is synthetic at all, it will also become illegal, just like delta 9, which is listed as a Schedule I drug.

Many lawmakers want delta 8 to be considered synthetic because of its isolation process. Delta 8 THC, on the other hand, is a far cry from the issue that this rule was created to address: the large number of quasi synthetic THC analogs that have previously been proved to be dangerous to our health.

Myth: Delta 8 is The Same as all Other THCs

Fact: Delta 8 Is Not the Same as Other THC Forms

Delta 8 and delta 9 cannabinoids sound and look almost the same, and this has many people saying that they both have the same effects. Despite their similarities in being timer forms of weed, these cannabinoids still have noticeable differences.

They both connect to the CB1 and CB2 receptors, but delta 9 has a stronger connection to the CB1 receptors. Hence its psychoactive effects. Whereas delta 8 has a strong affinity to the CB2 receptors, thus its relaxing and mildly stimulating effects.

CBD, another cannabinoid, doesn’t bind to specific receptors, but it affects them that scientists are still trying to figure out. As a result, it has no psychoactive properties.

Myth: Delta 8 Causes Addiction

Fact: Delta 8 is not addictive

There’s a lot of debate on the internet regarding how addictive delta 8 THC is. It is entirely false. Any substance or activity can easily be habit-forming from irresponsible use; there is nothing that is addictive about delta 8.

One is always trying to find a release or an escape when faced with troubles. Whether depression, chronic pain, or an unfulfilling lifestyle, one tries to find any release sources or external stimulation.

And for some of you, delta 8 may be the perfect source of release from your disturbing reality. In no way does this make delta 8 an addictive compound. There cannot be such a good or bad chemical because they are just naturally occurring chemicals.

Conclusion

Myths spread faster than facts simply because they are exciting. There are many advantages of consuming delta 8 THC products, and it is sad to see all these myths about the spread.
