Most of the time, the utilities could go either way. Sometimes landlords pay for it, sometimes they do not. So depending on your living or most minor circumstances, it can be very beneficial to rent. Typically in New Jersey, the water responsibility is on the homeowner. But if you own your own home, nobody will pay your bills for you. Another advantage of being a renter is that you can pick up and go almost anytime. Unless you are on a yearly lease. Disadvantages of being a renter

The disadvantages of being a renter are that you cannot make alterations to the property. If you own your own home, you can do whatever you wish with it. But as a renter, you are limited on what you can and can’t do. This can become a massive downside to some people who want to feel highly comfortable where they live. Another disadvantage is that you are not establishing any credit by being a renter. This is because credit companies do not look at things like this for selecting a decent score.
